Job Description

Hollard Insurance suitably invites qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Senior Finance Manager to join our dynamic team.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to the following job functions:

What you’ll do

  • Reporting directly into the Head Financial Reporting-Group and heavy matrix to the Head of Finance and Hollard Group CFO. The Senior FM of Reporting is responsible for Financial Reporting for the Life, Short term and Group Companies, Statutory reporting and providing technical support to finance function and business units
  • Responsible for all internal and external financial reporting requirements of the ST/Life Group
  • Provide strategic financial support in assessing business performance by monitoring the key regulatory risks, including insurance ratios, insurance reserving and other governance and risk management practices
  • Perform portfolio reviews in terms of business unit financial results, track KPI’s provide comments and insights
  • Manage the preparation of the monthly and quarterly Group financial reports, Board packs and Exco packs
  • Provide Finance leadership on Process Efficiency, Business Performance Measures and Management, Analytical Support and Predictive Analysis
  • Ensure financial controls are designed, implemented and managed within the financial reporting environment
  • Management of Group wide Planning and forecasting process across the Hollard Group
  • Provide technical accounting support to business units and drive implementation of technical standards in ST/Life Group
  • Research of changes to statutory and regulatory reporting requirements and responsible for the development of Hollard actions in response to the changes in particular to IFRS17
  • Manage the External audit relationship, coordinate the audit process as well as deliverables to Audit Committee
  • Manage the preparation of the consolidated Annual Financial Statements
  • Coordinate the regulatory reporting (FSCA, SARB, NCR)
  • Drive balance sheet management across the Group
  • Custodian of Hollard Group General ledger and Reporting tools
  • Manage, lead and guide the financial managers in the reporting team
  • Manage the relationship with the Actuarial and Tax teams and maintaining a high-level understanding of these functions and their impact on reporting
  • Ad-hoc finance reporting projects

Required Knowledge and Experience    

  • A minimum of 8 years post articles experience
  • A minimum of 2 years management experience
  • Insurance Industry experience preferable
  • Knowledge of accounting packages, systems and controls including budgeting
  • Exceptional Business acumen and broad business knowledge
  • In depth knowledge of financial accounting and related processes
  • International accounting standards

Educational Requirements
