Job Description
The Inventory Analyst is responsible for conducting an on-going Inventory risk analysis, ensure the balancing and alignment of systems and performing certain month-end responsibilities to support the Inventory Accountant.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to the following job functions:
What you’ll do
- Finalise monthly accounting for inventory transactions
- Approve stock takes
- Ensure the accuracy and validity of write-offs
- Process journals as required
- Critically assess inventory-related risks
- Resolve escalated inventory queries (mostly from stock takes) & minimize the risk of financial loss
- Escalate systems or process errors or improvements to the business analyst and/or Pepkor IT
- Prepare year- and month-end inventory calculations and process journals
- Conducting inventory and other data reconciliations
- Resolve potential weighted average unit cost price discrepancies
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting
- Perform monthly general ledger (GL) inventory reconciliations
- Data reporting and adhoc tasks

What you’ll need
- Relevant tertiary qualification (certificate, diploma, degree), a B Com degree would be an advantage
- 2 years’ relevant experience in a Financial environment
- Experience working in a retail environment (preferred)
- Understanding of end-to-end inventory processes
- Good financial administration knowledge and ability
- Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and their application (debits, credits, journals, reconciliations)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills
