General Manager at Unitrans

Unitrans South Africa is looking for a self-motivated and results-driven General Manager to direct and manage our organization’s business activities and to develop and implement effective business strategies and programs.

An opportunity has arisen for a high calibre General Manager to oversee, lead and manage all aspects of the Freight and Forwarding division to ensure consistent high level service quality and customer satisfaction, profitability whilst ensuring a cost efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

Execute Business Strategies:

• Develop, establish, and execute operating plans and strategy for the short, medium and long term
• Develop and maintain systems to manage operational work, operating processes and procedures
• Direct and participate in acquisition and growth activities
• In conjunction with Group Support Services oversee risk management and legal activities
• Provide guidance and leadership through management of the company’s metrics and measurement reporting process

Financial Control

• Managing the revenue costs and assets
• Drive Best Practices across the contracts
• Oversee the budgetary planning and processes for own operations
• Optimization of People, Processes, Technologies
• Ensure reporting and integrity of financial results
• Comply with the appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements

Support Marketing Strategies

• Support the management of marketing strategies
• Ensure and maintain ongoing operational relationships with the customers
• Take joint ownership of strategies
• Analyse current client’s business to introduce innovation and continuous operational improvement.

Managing teams

• Provide strategic leadership for the team and oversee their functions
• Drive change, accountability, and excellence within Management Team
• Integrate People through Vision, Mission, Values and Organisational Structures

Desired Experience & Qualification

• A relevant Tertiary qualification in Transport Management, Supply Chain or Logistics Management
• 3-5 years operational experience in a senior management role
• Strong financial and supply chain management experience; preferably in logistics and /or a supply chain management.
• Solid working knowledge of budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning
• Proven track record in the logistics management of Bulk Transportation
• A management qualification such MDP, SMDP,EDP or MBA will be an added advantage
• Strong proven leadership record

Dispatchers at Unitrans

Unitrans South Africa is currently recruiting for a professional and reliable Dispatcher to act as our company’s first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls. Bojanala Bus currently has vacancies for Dispatchers at their depot in Bapotrans

In this position, you will be in charge of maintaining call logs, monitoring routes, transferring messages, and directing field units.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Controlling of vehicle equipment
• Daily operational duties
• Fuel control and refuelling of vehicles
• Supervising cleaners and cleaning of vehicles
• Dispatching of drivers and vehicles
• Handle small amounts of cash
• Movement and parking of vehicles in the depot

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Organizing and administrative skills
• EC license with valid PDP
• Will involve shift work
• Able to do simple calculations
• Able to work under pressure during peak periods
