Job Description

Santam Insurance suitably invites qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Broker Liaison Officer to join our dynamic team.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to the following job functions:

What you’ll do

  • To manage broker relations in all spheres of business, with specific reference to functions performed by the JHB legal and Outsourced Business branches. To ensure that excellent service is rendered to everyone who deals with either of the branches. Role expectations:
  • Dual reporting line to Branch Manager : JHB Legal and Branch Manager : Outsourced Business Branch
  • Understanding the calibre of brokers that are serviced by the JHB legal and Outsourced Business branch ( i.e. their loss ratios, volume of claims, clients profile, contribution to business, challenges or limitations and aspirations)
  • Achieve or exceed all required service level standards determined by Santam.
  • Reporting to brokers (monthly recovery & liability book performance, open claims progress updates, operational updates etc.)
  • General relationship building – internal and external stakeholders (through various interactions including broker or stakeholder visits, conferences, workshops, presentations to staff, training etc.)
  • Stakeholders : Internal : general staff members who provide service, relationship managers, regional sales managers, regional claims relationship managers, Client Care Department, Branch Managers, Fellow Broker Liaison officers etc.
  • Stakeholders: External: members of the public, brokers & other insurers.
  • Identifying and reporting trends and solutions pertaining to processes, operational or technical challenges that impact customer service.
  • Ensuring adherence to the “Service Pledge” and TCF principles, including complaints record keeping.

  • Matric/grade 12 certificate
  • COP in short terms insurance
  • Knowledge and understanding of the short – term insurance industry
  • Knowledge and understand of the claims handling process chain including the recovery,  third party and litigation claims handling
  • Knowledge and understanding of  Santam’s operational systems, processes and procedures
  • Computer Literate (MS Office Package)
  • Drivers License
  • People management

Qualification and Experience

  • Grade 12 or Diploma with 3 to 5 years related experience.
